Alberto Fujimori
Alberto marked an important date in history as the first Japanese person to be head of state in any foreign country. Although many of Fujimori's enemies would claim he was born in Japan, his parents were farming cotton in Peru at the time of his birth (Davies). His father being a cotton farmer made Fujimori enter into the world in poverty. A few weeks after his birth the family moved to Lima to find more profitable business ventures in the tyre repair business (Davies). Fujimori's young years were a constant struggle as the business was siezed by the Peruvian government in response to Pearl Harbor.

However, Fujimori overcame his troubled beginings. On July 28, 1990 he was sworn in as the president of Peru (Davies). He proved to be a great president. Slashing hyperinflation, reducing guerrilla activity, fending off terrorists, and entering into a peace agreement with Ecuador are only afew of his many achievements while in office (Davies). Fujimori remained president from 1990-2000.
